Victor Frederick Weisskopf (19 September 1908 - 22 April 2002) was an Austrian-born American theoretical physicist whose work contributed to quantum electrodynamics, nuclear physics, and postwar high-energy physics.
Quantum context
Weisskopf worked on early quantum field theory and quantum electrodynamics, including radiative corrections and the physical interpretation of self-energy effects. His name appears in the history of QED because these problems shaped the renormalized theory of electrons, photons, and charged particles.
In the Quantum Collection he is linked from Physics:Quantum electrodynamics, where the development of covariant and finite calculational methods is central.
