Known for Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell

Anthony Zee (born 7 June 1945) is a Chinese-American theoretical physicist and writer.[1]

Career and work

Zee is a professor at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics and the physics department of the University of California, Santa Barbara.[1][2]

His work and writing range across quantum field theory, statistical physics, gravity, and popular presentations of modern physics. He is widely known to students for the lively textbook Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell.[1][3]

The QFT further-reading list uses Zee because his books emphasize physical intuition as well as formal development, making them a common bridge from standard graduate courses to broader field-theory ideas.[3][2]

Selected works

  • Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell (2003; 2nd ed. 2010).
  • Einstein Gravity in a Nutshell (2013).
  • Group Theory in a Nutshell for Physicists (2016).
