Known for Path integrals; variational perturbation theory

Hagen Kleinert (15 June 1941 - 7 March 2025) was a German theoretical physicist.[1]

Career and work

Kleinert worked across quantum field theory, path integrals, statistical physics, condensed matter theory, and critical phenomena.[1]

He is especially associated with path-integral methods and variational perturbation theory, and wrote substantial monographs connecting field-theory techniques with condensed matter, electrodynamics, and gravitation.[1][2]

In the QFT bibliography he is linked through Critical Properties of φ4-Theories and Multivalued Fields in Condensed Matter, Electrodynamics, and Gravitation.[3][2]

Selected works

  • Path Integrals in Quantum Mechanics, Statistics, Polymer Physics, and Financial Markets.
  • Critical Properties of φ4-Theories (with Verena Schulte-Frohlinde).
  • Multivalued Fields in Condensed Matter, Electrodynamics, and Gravitation.
