Günter Robert Scharf (19 September 1938 - 30 November 2020) was a German theoretical physicist.[1]
Career and work
Scharf was professor of theoretical physics at the University of Zurich from 1970 to 2006 and remained active as a researcher after becoming emeritus.[1]
His work is associated with mathematical physics, causal perturbation theory, gauge-theory renormalization, gravity, spin waves, laser theory, and the linearized Boltzmann equation.[1]
In the QFT page he is linked through Finite Quantum Electrodynamics: The Causal Approach, a book presenting the Epstein-Glaser causal method as a route to finite perturbative quantum electrodynamics.[2][1]
Selected works
- Finite Quantum Electrodynamics: The Causal Approach.
- Books and lecture texts on classical and quantized field theories.
