Wojciech Hubert Zurek (born 1951) is a Polish-American theoretical physicist known for work on quantum decoherence, environment-induced superselection, and quantum Darwinism.
Quantum context
Zurek's work explains how interaction with an environment can suppress observable interference between components of a quantum state. This made decoherence a central mechanism in discussions of measurement, classicality, and open quantum systems.
His ideas connect Physics:Quantum decoherence, Physics:Quantum Darwinism, and Physics:Quantum measurement problem, placing him among the main modern figures in quantum foundations.
