====Early Years====
He grew up helping his parents in their shoe shop during the 1960s. ====Discovering Computers====
In 1975 he encountered computers for the first time, and life changed. He started programming on an HP 9815 with just 8K RAM, later moving to the HP 9825<ref>link-https://www.hpmuseum.org/hp9825.htm</ref> with 24K RAM and string manipulation ROMs, 9835A with 736K Ram and the 9845 with 2MB RAM, cutting-edge at the time.

One of his earliest achievements was writing a program to automate pairings for Swiss chess tournaments. Organizing/pairing 250 players manually took days/weeks; his program did it in 28 seconds. They completed 13 rounds in one day, a world record at the time.

Though he lacked a formal background in computer science initially, his desire to understand computing at a deeper level led him around the world: - Böblingen, Germany – Studied with support from Hewlett-Packard - Wokingham, United Kingdom – Continued my studies near London - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA Completed advanced studies. Focus: computer architecture, processors, memory systems, and logic design

Those were the days following IBM 360 systems, Hollerith punch cards, and paper tape, a revolution in computing history.
====Entrepreneurship====
He went on to found Transmit Data, an OEM software and hardware company that grew to around 30 employees. Today, he still runs a smaller company called Civil Trading to stay active and engaged in business and technology.
====Lifelong Learning====
His curiosity didn’t stop at computers. In 2020 he began studying Chemistry at HAN University of Applied Sciences NL Arnhem/Nijmegen and truly enjoyed it. Although he doesn’t hold a university degree in Quantum Physics, he is passionate about:

- Quantum Computing

He regularly studies at the University of Amsterdam library (UvA) and he is a member of the Natuurkundig Gezelschap Utrecht (NGU). He enjoys writing articles that share scientific knowledge in an understandable way.

Pruneau is a French Canadian native born in Quebec City. He completed his studies at Universite Laval where he earned a Ph.D. in physics in 1987. He worked as research fellow successively for the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and McGill University (Montreal). He joined the [[Organization:Wayne State University|Wayne State University]] Faculty in 1992 where he is now professor. He conducts an active research program on the search and study of the Quark Gluon Plasma at the [[Organization:Brookhaven National Laboratory|Brookhaven National Laboratory]]. Pruneau is also visiting professor at the Mumbai Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
Pruneau is a member of the [[Organization:American Physical Society|American Physical Society]], the [[Organization:Canadian Association of Physicists|Canadian Association of Physicists]], and the [[Organization:Union of Concerned Scientists|Union of Concerned Scientists]]. Pruneau was acting director of the Wayne State Planetarium. One of Pruneau's best known scientific contribution is the analysis and interpretation of two and three particle correlations produced in heavy ion collisions towards the understanding of the dynamics and chemistry of the QCD matter produced in these collisions. Pruneau played a leading role in the development of two and three particle correlation function measurements to identify signatures of the formation of Quark Gluon Plasma in ultra-high energy heavy-ion collisions.
Additionally, within the context of the STAR collaboration, Pruneau lead the design, development, and deployment of event reconstruction software to transform raw data produced by the experiment into kinematical quantities suitable for physics analysis of the heavy-ion collisions studied by the collaboration.

Pruneau participated to several experiments at the Brookaven National Laboratory (BNL) Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS), including experiments E814, E877, and E864 that were among the first collaborations to explore the possibility of producing Quark Gluon Plasma matter in heavy ion collisions at AGS beam energies. In the last two decades, Pruneau focussed his efforts on the STAR experiment at the [[Organization:Brookhaven National Laboratory|BNL]] [[Physics:Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider|Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider]] (RHIC) and at the [[Organization:CERN|CERN]] [[Physics:Large Hadron Collider|Large Hadron Collider]]. == Software for particle physics ==
S.V.Chekanov led and implemented several large-scale software projects for high-energy particle physics, such as [[Physics:HepSim|HepSim]] Monte Carlo repository for collision events, [[Software:Jas4pp|Jas4pp]] analysis framework for particle physics and other software packages.
He took several leadership roles, such as ATLAS experiment event display coordinator (2019-2021), QCD physics coordinator (2003-2018, ZEUS/HERA experiment), ATLAS upgrade calorimeter simulation coordinator (2016-2018) and other.

As a software designer, he was a primary developer of [[Software:DataMelt|DataMelt]] scientific program (original name [[Software:JHepWork|JHepWork]] (2005),[[Software:SCaViS|SCaViS]]) for numeric and statistical computations and several other scientific computing projects available from SourceForge.

This work explores the concept of synchronicity, first introduced by [[Biography:Carl Jung|Carl Jung]], and proposes a method for estimating the probability that synchronicity arises from pure chance and randomness. Chekanov applies this new technique to assess the likelihood of synchronicity in various historical coincidences. By demonstrating that the role of chance in these phenomena is improbable, he connects synchronicity to questions about the origin of the universe, biological evolution, quantum mechanics, elementary particles, and the remarkable beauty of natural laws. The book concludes that the synchronicity effect can be seen as evidence for the existence of God, although it does not dismiss the simulation theory. Where science falls short of providing definitive answers, this book offers insights that illuminate our consciousness and its relationship with the informational reality shaping the events and processes of our world.
